What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is stealing other peoples work without giving the ‘original’ author any credit for their work. People’s ideas can be stolen as it is their knowledge on the topic subject and it's protected by the copyright law. Stealing someone else’s idea is like lying for something you didn’t do when you know it was you. Plagiarism is when you don’t cite a website or you copyed the authors work without giving them credit, but plagiarism can also be when you find a web page that gets you an idea and you don’t reference the page.
An example of plagiarism is –
It is the last night before your science assignment is due and you forgot all about it so you go on Google and search the information that is required. You find the perfect website filled with all the research you need to get a good mark, so you copy and paste the writing and marked the work as your own. Then you saved “your” work and shut down the computer. This is plagiarism as 1 you didn't cite it and 2 you did change any words. Plagiarism is taken very serious and there are consequences for doing it.
